Tomorrow would have been Michelle’s 49th Birthday

Michelle and I birthdays are 10 days apart, we had a tradition of celebrating the ten days in between our birthdays.

We started this tradition our first year of dating we would being on my birthday on the 17th We would plan an adventurous travel throughout the Pacific Northwest, some of our travels included taking a seaplane to Victoria Island British Columbia, exploring the Olympic Peninsula trekking through the rainforest in search of hot springs, ferry rides from Whidbey island and San Juan islands with farm stays and foraging, and many trips around Oregon coast relaxing on the beach eating cheese and drinking fancy beverages. Part of the tradition was appreciating the late spring spoils of the PNW rhubarb, fiddlehead fern, morels, ramps, and nettles. Michelle would make fresh tortillas for her legendary breakfast tacos and commission a Rhubarb pie or pastries for our enjoyment. I would make fresh pasta and nettle pesto then sauté the morels ramps and fiddlehead for our birthday dinner. The trips were the highlight of the year we had so many unexpected surprises we experienced natural beauty. We scavenged for driftwood, cool rocks and feathers for Michelle’s art projects. We went to art museums and amazing concert along the way but mostly just enjoyed each other company being silly relaxing and dreaming.
